Derrick Attachie

Head of Training and Training Division Interregional Coordination Centre, Yaoundé

Derrick Attachie is currently the Head of Training at the Interregional Coordination Centre for Maritime Safety and Security in the Gulf of Guinea based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is a serving Ghanaian Naval Officer with 24 years of commissioned service.

He has worked as Surface Warfare (Operations) Officer by holding various sea and shore appointments of the Ghana Navy. His previous appointments include Director Naval Operations and Director Naval Intelligence both at the Ghana Navy Headquarters, Accra. Derrick Attachie has participated in joint Internal Security operations with the Ghana Police and other security agencies in the country. On the regional scene, he served with the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) in 1995 during the Liberian Civil War and in 1999 during the Sierra Leone Civil War, and on the international scene, he served as a United Nations Military Observer in Liberia from July 2009 to August 2010.

Derrick Attachie holds a Master of Science Degree in Defence & Strategic Studies from the University of Madras – Chennai, India, Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs & Diplomacy from the University of Ghana – Legon, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Psychology – Legon, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration – Accra. In addition, he has graduated from the Ghana Armed Forces Command & Staff College on two occasions for his Junior and Senior Staff courses, respectively. He has also completed a comparative command & Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India.
