Dr. Ifesinachi Okafor-Yarwood

Ifesinachi is a research analyst at One Earth Future – Stable Seas. Her work focuses on maritime security and related issues in West and Central Africa.

She has consulted for different organisations on ocean and natural resource governance, security, and development issues in the African continent. Her contributions include technical support for the West Africa Fisheries’ Sector, its Security and its Control (PESCAO) project and for the Transparency International’s Defence and Corruption Index.

Ifesinachi holds a PhD from King’s College London and is an Associate Member of the Corbett Centre for Maritime and Policy Studies, United Kingdom. She holds a MA from King’s College London and a BA from London Metropolitan University.

She has published on a wide range of topics, including the Guinea-Bissau/Senegal maritime boundary dispute; the effects of oil pollution on food security in the Gulf of Guinea; and, most recently, on the extent to which illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing undermines efforts to achieve sustainable development goals for countries in the Gulf of Guinea.
