Dr. Gilberto Da Piedade

Gilberto Da Piedade Veríssimo is the Deputy Executive Secretary for Political Affairs of the Gulf of Guinea Commission.

He is an official General of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA),

He holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences (specialising in Strategic Studies) from the Institute Superior of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP), University of Lisbon.

He holds a Master’s degree in Technical Sciences (Information and Communication Technology), from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain and a Master’s degree in Electro Technical Engineering (specialising in Telecommunications) from the Technical and Military Institute “Jose Marti” (Havana) and also holds several Postgraduate degrees.

He is a Lecturer at the Superior War School- General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and at the Agostinho Neto University-Faculty of Social Sciences and an Academic Foreign Correspondent of the International Academy of Portuguese Culture.

He is the author of scientific and literary books:

  • The Influence of New Technologies in War (2005);
  • Elements of Geopolitics and Geostrategic (2013/2017);
  • Geopolitics of the Gulf of Guinea- The strategic position of Angola (2016);
  • Things of the Destiny (Novel, 2006);
  • What now, Oscar? (Novel, 2019).
