Giuseppe Sernia, UNODC programme officer, Global Maritime Crime Programme.

Retired Italian Navy officer, Giuseppe Sernia has served as legal/finance/admin officer on board of several Italian Navy surface vessels, deployed in UNIFIL and EUNAVFOR ATALANTA, before joining UNODC in 2015 as programme officer (Atlantic) for the Global Maritime Crime Programme.

From 2003 to 2013, as Avvocato, Giuseppe has been attending arbitration and courts’ hearings on maritime and admiralty law cases.

Giuseppe Sernia has been awarded an LLM (merit) in maritime law at the University of Southampton (UK) in 2010, and LLB/LLM at the University of Bologna in 2000.
