Tariworio Dick was born on 24 April 1964 in Nembe, in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. He  completed  his  primary  school  at  Army  Children  School,  Jenta  Jos  in  1977  and  attended  Command Secondary School Jos, from 1977 – 1982 for his secondary education.  He was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as a member of 33rd  Regular Course in January 1983.

On completion of the cadetship training in NDA in December 1984, he continued his sea-going cadetship training onboard NNS RUWAN YARO, NNS OBUMA and NNS LANA. He was commissioned acting sub lieutenant  in  January  1986  and  nominated  for  the  Sub  Lieutenant  Technical  Course  (STC)  at  NNS QUORRA,  Apapa  Lagos  in  1988.He  attended  the  Officers  Long  Course  (OLC)  in  1995  where  he specialized in Navigation and Direction (ND). He also attended the Junior Staff Course 96/42 in the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji between August and December 1996.  He attended the Principal Warfare Officers (PWO) Course at NNC ONURA, Port Harcourt in 1997. He also attended the Senior  Staff  Course  24  in  AFCSC  Jaji,  Amphibious  Staff  Operations  Course  at  the  Nigerian  Army Amphibious Training Wing, Calabar and Train-the-Trainer Course in Disaster Management in Jaji. He was a participant of National Defence College (NDC) Course 19 where he received the Chief of the Naval Staff award for the best paper on maritime operations. He has presented several papers including the lead paper in NN Retreat 2015 at Asaba titled “Emerging Maritime Security Challenges: Imperatives for the NN”

Some of the appointments held include duties with the Commanding Officer (CO) NNS OKEMINI in Port Harcourt, Watch Keeping Duties (WKO) onboard NNS DAMISA on ECOMOG Peace Keeping Operations in Liberia and SOIII Records NHQ.  Others are Instructor NNS QUORRA, Navigation Officer NNS KYANWA from Nov 02- Aug 04, Directing Staff (DS) at the AFCSC, Jaji, Sep 04-Sep 06, SOI Control Directorate of Marine Services NHQ and Chief Instructor (CI) Department of Maritime Warfare, AFCSC Jaji Oct 07 –Apr 09. He also served as CO NNS LANA from Apr 09-Jul10, CO Command Naval Drafting (CND) from Jul to Aug 10 and briefly as Deputy Director Special Projects in NN Transformation Office. He was a DS at the NDC from Apr 12- 17 Mar 13, Director Curriculum and Programmes Development (DCPD) 18 Mar 13-20 Jan 14 and in addition Ag Director Academic Research and Analytical Support 14

Nov 13 – 20 Jan 14. He was the Director Air Naval Headquarters (NHQ) Abuja, from 20 Jan 14-29 Dec 14 and Director of Operations NHQ from 29 Dec 14 – 28 Sep 15. He served as Director Training DHQ from

28 Sep 15 to 12 Apr 16. He was appointed FOC Central Naval Command from 15 Apr 16 to 9 May 16. In May 2016 he was appointed the Chief of Logistics NHQ and Chief of Administration NHQ from 4 Jul 17 to 31 Aug 2019. He served as the Deputy Commandant/ Director of  Studies at the Armed Forces Command and  Staff  College  Jaji  Kaduna  from  5  Sep  18  to  4  APR  19. He is currently the Chief of Training and Operations Naval Headquarters.

Dick has been awarded FSS, MSS, DSS, psc+ (pass staff college dagger) and fdc+ (distinguish Fellow of the Defence College). He holds an Advance Diploma in Maritime Safety and Petroleum Management from Federal University of Technology Owerri and MSc in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan. He is a Member Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM).

He  is  married  to  Mrs  Diepreye  Dick  and  they  are  blessed  with  3  children;  Idubamo,  Tariworio  and

Ayebatonye. He enjoys fine art, fish farming and reading.
